Before telling you when, let's get to know something about anti-aging products.
Anti-aging products
These are skin care products that are produced with the aim of making the skin look younger by reducing wrinkles, smoothing fine lines and firming the skin. There are anti-aging products that are moisturizer-based like lotions, creams and gels. Other anti-aging products are in a supplement form.
The ingredients that play a role in limiting aging signs in anti-aging products:
- Peptide : Peptides are small proteins that help stimulate new cells to grow. These chains of amino acids boost the protein in the skin which help skin cells to heal. Collagen is a type of peptide.
- Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) : Lactic acids, glycolic acid and citric acid have healing properties when it comes to the skin. These AHAs get rid of dead skin cells to allow the new skin cells to grow well. These acids are naturally found in fruits like lemon and sugar cane. Lactic acid is found in milk.
- Retinol: This is a powerful anti-aging ingredients which is in the form of vitamin A. It works by smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. It tones the face by boosting the thickness and elasticity of the skin. Tretinoin is a more active form of retinol which is mostly branded as Retin-A

- Antioxidants: Antioxidants are known to help fight cell damage from free radicals. Beta-carotene, vitamin A, E and C are substance with antioxidants properties.
Side effects of anti-aging products
- There's been reports that taking resveratrol supplements reduces the metabolism benefits.
- Retinol is associated with a burning sensation, a stinging and a tingling especially when used during day time. Pregnant women are to avoid retinol in any form because it might increase birth defects.
- AHA is also associated with a burning sensation when in the sun. It makes the skin very sensitive to the sun.
